Calvin W. Gehen, 52, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2008, in his home surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Margaret (Smith) and Calvin Stevens; his paternal grandparents, Hilda Rose (Turner) and Gerald Gehen; and his brother, Stephen Gehen. He was born on September 18, 1956 to Marjorie (Stevens) Gehen and George William Gehen. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol (Tomazin) Gehen; his five children, Rebecca and Brandon Ausman, West Chester, Pa., Sean and Amy Gehen, Carmel, Ind., Kathleen and Stephen Sheffield, Liverpool, N.Y., Amy and Eric Monson, Layton, Utah, and Sarah Gehen, Newark Valley; his grandchildren, Emma, Benjamin and Andrew Ausman, Bethanie, Sadie and Brady Gehen, Tyler, Matthew and Emily Sheffield, and Hailey Monson; his parents, George W. (Victoria) Gehen, Homosassa, Fla., and Marjorie S. Gehen, Annandale, Va.; his siblings, Melanie and Bruce Benedict, David and Patricia Gehen, and Cynthia and Louis Swann; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Julia Tomazin; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Kris Tomazin, Martin and Cynthia Tomazin, Deborah and Anthony D'Angelo, Robert and Julie Tomazin, Kenneth and Sheila Tomazin; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. As a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Calvin was the stake president of the Owego, N.Y. Stake. He lived his life serving others and his Savior. He was greatly loved by those he served. Calvin was an engineer at Lockheed Martin in Owego and was soon to celebrate his 30th year there. He was a valued and hard working employee and was well respected and loved by his coworkers. Calvin was recognized for his problem solving skills and his dedication to his job. He was active in the community and served on the Candor school board for many years. Calvin led an active and energetic life. He enjoyed cycling, amateur radio, photography, hiking and camping. Calvin most loved spending time with his family and especially loved playing with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Calvin's family is especially grateful to his caring physician, Dr. Harris, and those involved in his Hospice care.
