Daniel (Danny) G. Van Gorder, age 66, of Apache Junction, AZ died unexpectedly at home, of natural causes. He was born in 1955 to John Richard (Dick) and Eleanor (Ridgeway) Van Gorder and was raised in Newark Valley, NY. He graduated from Newark Valley High School in 1974. His professional career began at Acoustic Imaging, where he was an ace technician in ultrasound manufacturing, progressed to manager and earned a bachelors in business. Danny continued his career at Motorola where he worked his way to manager. He was recruited by Philips and excelled as a Field Service Engineer in the Patient Monitoring Group, traveling extensively to hospitals and medical facilities across many states. He retired from Philips after a successful 15-year career there, totaling 45 years of full-time employment. Danny was a tremendous athlete in track, baseball, basketball, and football (all-star linebacker and running back). He was a hardcore Giants fan like his father. He ran marathons, especially enjoying the Rock n Roll series. He worked out at the gym every day and ran with his beloved dog Cody. When not at his ranch, you could find him kayaking, jet skiing, and water skiing with friends on Canyon Lake. Visible from his home was his favorite Superstition Mountain, which he summited often. He also hiked the Grand Canyon, not only rim-to-rim, but also rim-to-rim-to-rim (south to north rim and back, covering 50 miles in two days). In retirement, he enjoyed being in nature, his RV and camping. Visits with Danny always included laughter. His keen humor and jovial nature put others at ease. He loved music, dancing and spending quality time with loved ones. Danny was known for his warmth and kindness. He had the bluest eyes and biggest heart. He enjoyed life and everybody he met. Danny was immensely proud of his nieces and nephews. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed. He was predeceased by his son Daniel and his father Dick Van Gorder. He is survived by his mother Eleanor Van Gorder, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
